Deb Herbold, Producer/Director Iowa Public Television, is producing a television documentary about Iowa life in the 1950s. The documentary is titled - Iowa's Radio Homemakers: Up a Country Lane. It profiles the radio homemakers in the 50s in Shenandoah - but also gives a general view of rural Iowa lifestyles during that time. It will air for the first time on Iowa Public Television in March 2010 (during Festival).

Deb is looking for some "happy" photos from the 50s...people sharing a meal or standing together smiling...rural-related would be ideal but anything small-town would be appropriate. The "happiness" factor is key - "just generic slice-of-life type shots".

I have started a 1950's album and invited Deb to select photos from it for her documentary.  If you have some photos you would like to donate for the album please email them to contact@warrencountyhistory.org or drop them by the museum during business hours.  We will scan them and return the originals to you, if you do not want to donate them.
