Dear Friends,
2008 has flown by and the Warren County Historical Society is preparing for its spring 2009 re-opening. We have created a Web Site which has photos, articles, and obituary index on line. We also initiated a spring 5th graders Spelling Bee competition, updated museum exhibits (a WWI wall mural is currently being painted), tripled the hours we are open, added computer technology and Internet, mailed 300 newsletters, and received several grants. We have continued our elementary pioneer school days, Log Cabin Festival (the last full weekend in September), and maintained our WCHS Museum and Heritage Village.
We invite you and your family to visit WCHS, one of Warren County's best kept secrets. We have many projects for volunteers such as: 1) creating a multi media history of Warren County rural schools, 2) indexing our voluminous library materials, 3) recording oral histories, 4) working with children at Pioneer School, 5) planning for Log Cabin Festival, and 6) photographing and indexing our artifacts and archive in Past Perfect. Volunteers can help on a regular basis or drop in for a special project.
In 2009 we are asking that you consider making a tax deductible donation of $100 to $200 to help us create a parking area close to our museum, repaint two of our Heritage Village Buildings, remove damaged trees and begin to make our facilities handicapped accessible. Our buildings require continued care and maintenance.
For this donation you will receive membership in the WCHS, listing on our Web Site as a sponsor ( business logo could be reproduced), and advertising as a sponsor in the September Log Cabin Festival newspaper insert in the Record Herald. You will not be asked for any other donations in 2009. Please designate your donation as WCHS 2009 Improvement Fund.
Our projects help Warren County citizens preserve, discover, and learn about our county's heritage. Thank you for your generous support, and we hope you will make our 2009 projects a reality.
Sincerely,
