This is LaDonna's responce when I asked for more information on the photos. If you have more to add please send it to me and I will update this article.
Mr. McCormick,
Sadly, I don't know too much (about the photos). I have ended up with the box of photos, most of which are uncaptioned and nearly all of which are undated.
Obviously it was taken 1937 or after, since the photo does say on the back "Cowdin garage" and "Kenny's 1937 Plymouth." Grant Cowdin, my grandpa, had a blacksmith shop/garage in Spring Hill for decades. Since this isn't the one I remember, I'm guessing that it was located more to the center/east of town (the one I remember was in the far sw corner). Long-timers who see it will be able to help you more, and then my brother and I will learn something! (Kenny would be Grant's son, Kenneth Cowdin. He married Dorothy Hansell so maybe the Hansells could help out, too, with more information.)
Grandpa came to Spring Hill around the time of WWI. He died in the spring of 1975, and was unable to work only the last few years of his life.
Thanks for all you do in local history preservation. As a history teacher, and one who's roots are in Spring Hill, I thank you!
